Abstract:
Westerners have reduced the African palaver to an endless and long discussion. But it should be noted that the palaver is the search for peaceful consensus that emanates from the ongoing dialogue with stakeholders in the management of public affairs. There are several factors that are at the origin of the african palaver: the settlement of a conflict, breaking the violence, the search for peace, avoiding the anarchy of the community and preserving good social relations. It begins with the direct dialogue and the traditional mediation tha thakes place in family or neighbourhood. It ends with the palaver itself. Indeed, the chief of village or community that convenes the palaver, it thakes place under a tree to palaver or a shed. We seek the truth to solve a problem and cure the culprit. For this fact, we take our time and we are not in a hurry, the importance is to reach a consensus that promotes common life and the culprit is not condemned.
